Job Description:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the entire Property Tax System in accordance to the Federal, State, and Local Regulations which they govern.
Ability to maintain good public relations with the external and internal customers.
Ability to demonstrate good computer and administrative skills for the documentation of evaluations and analysis of accounts.
Ability to meet appropriate deadline and work under pressure, in addition to using common sense and logical judgment in their problem solving techniques.
Ability to be flexible and intuitive in filling other positions.
Ability to maintain the office and equipment clean and in good condition.
Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.
Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general publi! c complaints.
Ability to project a positive and profession! al image of the City of Laredo.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish languages.
Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed inside an office and exposed to a variety of weather conditions such as: excessive intermittent noise. Work is exposed to contagious infectious disease/irritating chemicals, dust, and constant noise. Capable of working closely with others. Ability to operate office equipment; Work requires light carrying (under 15 pounds), light lifting (under 24 pounds), straight pulling, simple grasping, sitting, standing, and walking. Ability to see, write, read, count, and hearing is needed to perform the essential functions of this job.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keeps up to date with the compliance of billing, collection, and reporting of all accounts receivable transactions in accordance to the Federal, State and Local regulations practices.
Researches customer's receivable accounts (tax, alarm, paving assessments, etc.) for prompt resolution of customer concerns, in addition to the application of payments, liens, or lawsuit information.
Updates customer account and billing information to properly record, changes of name and address, alarm false calls, lien information, law suit information, or notations of customer inquiries, concerns, and resolutions.
Assists taxpayers, mortgage companies, or miscellaneous receivable customers with information regarding property tax, miscellaneous receivable, or alarm accounts. Fax and mail copies of statement to customers.
Takes payments for property taxes paid by mortgage or title companies.
Balances payments and runs edit ! listing on daily basis.
Submits, reconciles, and validates reports ! and totals in order to mail monthly statements to customers.
Attends account related court hearings, conducts research, prepares, files, and releases lien information at the County Clerk's office
Assists the City's attorney's staff, who handles delinquent accounts, in conducting research to locate taxpayers.
Files documents and has paperwork organized for future customer request.
Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Accounting, or related field.

Valid Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Texas Drivers License*
- If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
