Within Projects & Technology, our Downstream Projects organization is accountable for the world-class execution of Downstream projects, including a commitment to safety, cost, schedule and technical integrity. By further improving performance and creating sustainable value, Downstream Projects help to drive Group-wide standardization to achieve operational excellence.
Resp! onsibilities:
- As change manager you will be the regional focal point to drive the embedding of a Continuous Improvement / Lean culture in PTDT (700+ people) and contribute to the wider PTD Continuous Improvement (CI) journey. (Through role modeling, organizational effectiveness interventions and simplification of PTDT business activities).
- You will lead CI/Lean improvement projects for the PTD/T organization in support of local Lean deployment program while delivering results (2012: 35 mln) within a planned schedule and benefits assessed at project outset with the project champion
- You will provide specific Lean Leadership coaching and training is a key component of this role with the Lean Coach expected to co-ordinate Lean Practitioners (Green Belts) in their delivery of both competency development and project execution
- The balance of delivery vs. coaching is in the order of 40% - 60% respectively
- It is anticipated that t! he CI/Lean Coach may (after 2 - 3 years) move into direct line accounta! bility roles to further sustain and embed CI/Lean Leadership and competency in the line
- Apply the Continuous Improvement / Lean methodology and recommend solutions to specific business case issues with the specific aim to deliver the improvement projects on schedule, with benefits realized and competency of Lean Practitioners raised and embedded
- As Lean Coach you will be expected to oversee PTD/T Lean Practitioners and their associated projects annually
- Lead projects as a project manager, adviser, coach or trainer, helping with resourcing (internal and 3rd party), playing a Q/A role where needed, participating in steering teams ,ensuring compliance with group methods, etc.
- It is anticipated that the above responsibility will include Kaizen workshops, facilitated sessions and project co-ordination
- Develop own and others Lean Leadership Behaviors and in doing so support and d! evelop a sustainable continuous improvement culture
- Facilitate Teamwork (Cross functional Project Teams)
- Continuously improve your skills with the aim to be a certified Lean Coach (Kaizen Facilitator and BlackBelt equivalent) within 12 months if not already certified
- Support the local Continuous improvement leaders to establish the Improvement agenda for PTD/T. This includes understanding the current situation and future vision, establishing relevant benchmarks/metrics and framing improvement programs to close the gaps
- Coaching Lean champions and project managers with simple, practical approaches to deliver Lean and other Process Improvement and Cost Reduction programs
- As a part of the PTD/T XLT provide ad hoc Program support if and when required
- Help set Continuous Improvement / Lean goals for the area and assist in leading the effort to achieve them
All candidates chosen to interview! will be assessed using a standard process to judge level of proficienc! y in Lean/Lean Sigma, Coaching, Change Management and Project Management. This is a formal, virtual assessment program and includes written examination, coaching simulations and a Lean/ Continuous Improvement content presentation (in conjunction with Process Leadership).
Within Learning there is a team of specialists to support you in your role. You will be part of the Lean / Continuous Improvement network and this extends into other organizations within the Group (i.e. EPA Europe).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in engineering or a technical degree
- Experience in an operating company is highly desirable and preferred
- Demonstrated capability to apply Lean/Lean Sigma Philosophy and Tools in a manufacturing / operational (oil and gas) or similar environment
- Practical Lean experience in applying process improvement and Lean tools (e.g. value stream mapping; 5S;! identifying and eliminating waste)
- Effective Communication skills (presentation, effective conversations & written)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong Facilitation skills (team work and team building)
- Accreditation such as a Lean Black Belt and Kaizen Facilitation experience would be a significant plus, but not essential
- Candidate ideally should meet the proficiency criteria for a JG3 Organizational
- Effectiveness in consulting, including:
- Process Improvement (Skill)
- Process Management
- Process Design
- Change Management
- Leadership competencies
- You will need to act as a change agent in creating awareness of and ingraining CI culture and philosophy
- You will be an ambassador for the Lean methodology and the PTD/T Continuous improvement / Lean journey
- It is the ambition of PTD/T to have Lean as the way of improvin! g business and have it implemented in ways of working e.g. culture !
- Since our Lean group and Process Management are closely linked, it is inevitable that you will also be involved in Process Management activities
- In future having Lean Sigma experience will become a preferred development skill for Management team Leadership roles within PTD/T and the company (this role is therefore a great development opportunity)
- Additionally, as a part of the extended leadership team of PTD/T the role will provide good senior management exposure
