Job Summary:
CNA Surety has an immediate opening for an experienced Underwr! iting Technician. Individual will provide technical, organizational and administrative business support to the branch office, including coordination of data submission between the branch and external locations, maintenance and organization of files, databases, and other business reports. Individual will process and report all new and renewal bond business. Will assist underwriters in the branch with front-line agent inquiries, and at branch manager’s discretion, handle specified classes of bonds as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities

:

1. Process new and renewal business: rate, code, execute, and expedite all final bonds to agents, including bid bonds, riders and cancellations, in a thorough and timely manner to ensure our principals’ needs are met.

2 Process premium adjustments, endorsements, cancellations and return premium to ensure accurate and timely billing for both agents and CNA Surety. Coordinate and maintain billing ! reports, collateral paperwork and profit sharing records. Assi! st accounting unit with collection of delinquent agency accounts. Track bonded jobs by sending out status reports, making appropriate premium adjustments, and monitoring liability through the use of the Inactive Bond Report.

3. Handle telephone and written correspondence from agents, other branches, and contractors with accuracy and speed, including requests for bond renewals, bond or underwriting file information, forms, and supplies.

4. Scan work on hand reports and financial information and coordinate data submission to the Central Data Entry team. Input this information as a back-up, as needed.

5. Provide updates to Home Office on existing contract accounts to include references, file set up, and Indemnity Agreements on new contract accounts; on behalf of agent, provide licensing, company appointments, powers of attorney for new and change requests, and all agency-related files to Home Office.

6. Utilize various software applications ! such as Underwriting Tools, ImageRight, Business Intelligence, and MS Office for diary and file status updates, reports, and maintenance of procedures and other manuals.

7. Prepare general indemnity agreements.

8. Performs general administrative duties such as file preparation, processing incoming and outgoing mail, filing, photocopying, diary and various reports as needed.

9. Under manager’s guidance, may coordinate the clerical functions of the office, identifying and correcting problems and inefficiencies, and prioritizing and monitoring tasks of clerks and technicians.

10. Act as LAN operator and liaison with Home Office (help desk, etc.) on all technology issues as required.

11. Monitor and maintain office equipment (copier, printer, fax, postage meter etc.).

12. Order and maintain office supplies.

13. Perform Notary functions for the branch as requested.

Standard:
1. Exhibit excellent! customer focus and communication skills when working with other branch! staff, other company personnel, and external contacts.

2. Possess a high proficiency in software applications such as Business Intelligence, ImageRight and MS Office.

3. Be personable, able to communicate effectively, and have a desire to complete assigned tasks quickly, accurately, and within requested guidelines.

4. Acquire knowledge of relevant procedures on assigned duties.

5. Understand and follow all Company policies.

6. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with both internal and external contacts.

7. Demonstrate excellent customer focus skills, good decision-making and leadership skills, and problem solving techniques.

8. Work independently on mastered processes.

Knowledge and Skills:
High school education and minimum of five years in an administrative support role. Previous experience in an insurance company or agency preferred. Reading com! prehension, accurate math and spelling skills required. Advanced PC skills including knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Office and Windows required. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, listening, problem solving abilities, organizational and time management skills necessary.
