Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Legal Administrative Assistant - Chevron Upstream and Gas Law, Major Capital Projects Legal Group-Negotiations & Legal, located in Houston, Texas through August 11, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

The Legal Administrative Assistant position will provide legal administrative support to six attorneys in the Major Capital Projects Legal Group-Negotiations & Legal and provide support to other team members, as required. The position will be working in downtown Houston.

This position requires a high energy individual who is self-motivated, works independently, is flexible in adapting to assignment changes, and has the demonstrated ability to multi-task and use independent j! udgment within the scope of his/her responsibility. Should be ! able to discreetly and routinely handle confidential information, exercise judgment over work priorities and establish a positive and professional working relationship with and communications among team members, clients and other staff members. Must be capable of typing, formatting and revising large, complex documents with proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and attention to details. Must also be able to handle a significant amount of travel arrangements, both domestic and international, and reconcile all travel expense reports. Must be capable and willing to assist with special projects, as required. Will be a back up to other legal assistants, as necessary. Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Administrative support to six attorneys and maintaining a high level of confidentiality surrounding any sensitive information/data and supporting other team members, as required.

Drafts, formats, and revises legal documents, including large complex contracts and agreements, and proofreads them to assure accuracy and coherence. Contracts and legal documents will have to be generated by using a global contract template with the ability to run table of contents, headers/footers, footnotes/endnotes, references, hyperlinks, styles and auto-numbering.

Fluency in transcription, with emphasis on being very detailed, and audio-visual equipment and communication technology (i.e., Tandberg, SharePoint and AT&T Connect).

Uses Microsoft Word track changes function to edit and revise ! documents.

Generates comparison "redlines" using Workshare Pro! fessional.

Generate various monthly/quarterly reports, presentations and other communications, as required.

Professionally manages communications with team members, clients and other staff members.

Handles and processes settlements, ebillings, invoices, and payments within the legal software system, TeamConnect®.

Maintains complete, orderly files and records, as required, at work location. Scan documents into the legal software system.

Reviews work product to ensure it is of high quality and meets department standards.

Opens, updates and closes matters within legal software system, TeamConnect®.

Organizes meeting logistics for daily, weekly, monthly and annual events. Meeting logistics include: catering, scheduling meeting rooms, arranging AT&T connect calls, setting up equipment for video conferencing, and e-mailing meeting notices, agendas and other key information.

Manages overall calendar for the ! attorneys and the organization for key activities and events.

Makes travel arrangements for both domestic and international travel. Assists with any travel related visa/immigration document preparation. Effectively communicates with domestic and international locations to coordinate requirements for travel logistics and meetings.

Prepares travel expense reports which include inputting, tracking and reconciling.

Utilize the Legal processes for on-boarding and off-boarding new hires and contractors.

Manages purchasing card charges and reconciles monthly statements in Ariba System.

Assist with other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Serves as a back up to other administrative support in Legal.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

3+ years' experience as legal administrative assistant or in other position with similar tasks and responsibilities.

Proficiency! in the full suite of 2007 Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel a! nd PowerPoint with particular advanced skills in the use of MS Word with track changes, table of contents, headers/footers, footnotes/endnotes, references, hyperlinks, styles and auto-formatting.

Be a team player and willing to help other legal assistants to meet daily business objectives.

Strong organization skills and attention to details are crucial.

Able to set priorities, be flexible in adapting to assignment changes and remain calm under pressure and is able to balance multiple priorities to meet competing deadlines.

Strong collaboration and people skills with the ability to work with a diverse workforce.

Ability to problem solve and use good judgment in handling job responsibilities and assignments.

Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise and effective manner, orally, and in writing; listens and takes directions quickly; maintains tactful and professional demeanor in all situations with all levels at Chevr! on and outside organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree desirable.

Proficiency in other computer applications such as Workshare Professional and SharePoint or other document management system software preferred.

Leadership responsibilities within projects and events.

General knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
