Position Description:
Marketing Specialist â€" Bid Analyst
VALIC is seeking a bid analyst who will be responsible for preparing and assembling proposal requests for VALIC’s retirement services products designed to procure new group accounts and retain existing accounts. Excellent organizational, project management, and both written and verbal communication skills are extremely important. Perform other sales related and marketing support activities, as needed.
Scope/Responsibilities:
o Partner with internal and external business partners to prepare high quality written responses to standard and customized proposals (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, Finalist Presentations), adhering to strict deadlines.
o Researches, writes and edits technical proposal sections including but not limited to, company background, targeted past performance citations, financial and technical qualification statements. Compile bid responses, marketing material and resumes creating a comprehensive, organized succinct, persuasive, compliant package presented to potential and existing institutional retirement plan clients. Must meet internal and external deadlines for competitive government bids.
o Continually develop working knowledge of VALIC systems, procedures and mutual fund and annuity products.
o Must be able to use independent judgment to balance assigned case load in order to complete work in a timely manner and maintain a calendar of upcoming proposals and their content deadlines.
o Liaise with internal subject matter experts, fiel! d representative, and senior management to resolve outstanding proposal issues.
o Must be able to analyze existing and proposed responses for suitability and marketability.
o Must be able to interpret or research proposal responses and seek appropriate guidance when necessary.
o Perform self-review of all work prior to submission of review to determine if information has been compiled effectively and appropriately answers the questionnaire and bid request.
o Organizes proposal content and response methodology into a content library that can be easily accessed throughout the company.
o Creates presentation documents for RFP follow up meetings and demos.

Job Requirements
The ideal Candidate will have:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong command of grammar, spelling and proper use business English.
o Effective time management and pri! oritization skills.
o Ability to understand and communicate fi! nancial concepts and business terminology.
o Working knowledge of annuities and mutual funds.
o Working knowledge of ERISA and other pension laws/regulations
o Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word is required, including management of sections, style templates, tables and figures, and other document organization functions, as well as knowledge of other MS Office software applications including Excel and Access.
o Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
o Strategic/critical thinking ability.
o Attention to detail.
o Good interpretive and personal skills.
o Ability to lead conference calls with senior executives.
