Job Description
Primary function of this department is to collect charge off Secured/Unsecured mortgage loans. This po! sition requires correspondence with customers, brokers, title companies, outside collection agencies and attorneys in order to facilitate resolution and collect on charged off loans through advanced contact, consultation and collection efforts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Make contact with customers, brokers, title companies, outside collection agencies and attorneys by telephone to establish a mutual agreement to bring charged off real estate loans to resolution based on liquidity and available assets.
Resolve and negotiate more complex accounts, including higher balance loans and escalated accounts.
Responsible for dealing with special assignments or assisting with testing new processes and procedures when needed.
Assist with peer training and coaching of less experienced agents or underperforming agents when needed.
Utilize negotiation skills to workout suitable payment arrangements, which may include: payof! f, settlements, short sale, or payment plans.
Review ! and analyze customer credit bureaus, property evaluations, contact information, employment information, and utilize skip tracing procedures to increase customer contact.
Answer inbound calls on charge-off accounts and determine account ownership, as well as, necessary actions in order to resolve the account.
Manage accounts and work within an ever changing control, compliance and audit environment to ensure adherence to strict standards.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum 4 years experience in Loss Mitigation/Collections preferred; specifically in a multi-system collection environment and preferably with a background working real estate portfolio.
Previous back-end collections or recovery experience a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven problem solving, decision-making, negotiation and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and resolve complex is! sues in a fast paced high-pressure performance environment while consistently meeting strict deadlines.
Understanding of FDCPA, consumer credit laws, financial analysis and bankruptcy knowledge preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
In-depth knowledge of mortgage loan servicing procedures.
Multi-State loan service experience preferred.
High school diploma or GED; College preferred.
Proven ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills is preferred
Strong computer keyboard/typing skills are required.
