The Loss Recovery Team I Leader reviews, monitors and directs collection activity, ensuring company policies and procedures, as well as State and Federal laws, are followed on post charge off accounts, including but not limited to expired loans, small balances, impounds and total losses and accounts assigned to outside collection agencies. This team member has contact with customers, other departments in both the consumer and dealer segments and outside agencies. Detailed Description
JOB DUTIES Supervise and evaluate assigned team members ensuring performance standards are met. Review and! process associated paperwork as assigned. Review and approve ! invoices incurred in assigned department. Provide training and motivation to team members, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Monitor team member customer calls for training purposes. Determine repossessions on post charge off accounts and monitor the entire process. Monitor team member customer calls for training purposes. Assign impound notices to team members and ensure they are processed within the specified period of time. Ensure all performance reviews are completed in a timely manner. Monitor net credit losses. Promote a cooperative and productive work environment.
OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES Monitor phone system. Review and audit accounts on a daily basis, providing feedback to team members as needed. Ensure effective communication, both verbal and written with the AVP Special Accounts in all areas of the collection process. Conduct and attend training meetings. Assist and complete special advanced projec! ts related to Loss Recovery. Interface with outside collection agencies, repossession agents and outside attorneys. Perform related duties as needed and assigned by management. Interview and recommend for hire prospective employees.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to: AVP Special Accounts Direct Reports: Variation of Loss Recovery Clerks, Loss Recovery Impounds & Total Loss Rep, Collateral Recovery Reps Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of Company policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
- Demonstrated ability to positively lead, coach and develop others.
- Advanced collection and skip-tracing skills, organization negotiation, supervisory and data entry skills.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in relation to the handling of customers and supervision! of team members.
- Mathematical ability necessary to arrange pa! yment plans and calculate past due accounts.
- Ability to operate various office equipment such as but not limited to fax machine, copy machine, etc.
- 1+ years experience in charged-off and/or collections required.
- Supervisory experience in automobile collections preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Normal office environment, subject to stressful situations.
