jcpenney is looking fo! r an Assistant Art Director with 3-5 years of previous print media advertising and graphic design experience. The Assistant Art Director will work with Art Director team to develop layouts and to ensure seasonal direction to support a cohesive relationship between visual and written creative concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Brings strong graphic design skills with regard to designing and typography, and builds all advertising for print, preprints, mailers, and postcards. Adheres to brand style guidelines and Art Director concepts with the conversion of these ideas into effective retail advertising design and photography to promote immediate sales and achieve the Company’s fashion/brand image goals.
• Extracting vital information from technical fact sheets and converting into exciting advertising design that will motivate potential customers to buy.
• Ensures quality, various lines of merchandise, formats, and Company stylistic! requirements; develops aesthetic sensitivity required to judg! e layout, type and photography.

Core Capabilities & Accomplishments:

• Previous Graphic Design experience in retail required; apparel preferred.
• Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or Advertising required.
• Strong experience in graphic design and layout for related media
• Excellent knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles; media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, sense of style, ability to portray a high taste level in all communication arts.
• Must be proficient in InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustration and other MAC based applications and design programs. Excellent attention to detail and strong visualization skills.
