• Our client, a major oil and gas company, is seeking a Counsel/Senior Counsel with 4+ years of upstream legal experience, including a background in commercial agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, and oil and gas royalty and compliance matters. The person in this position will provide timely counsel to internal client groups, including production, tax, and land, regarding compliance and risk exposure relating to federal and state regulations, including royalty, antitrust, international trade, import/export rules, FCPA, and corporate governance. In addition, the position will advise on audits and pre-litigation claims relating to royalty matters; prepare and manage administrative appeals on royalty issues; and counsel government affairs regarding the significance of proposed regulatory changes.

Candidates should have substantial oil and gas expertise, with an emphasis on commercial transactions and exposure to federal, state, and private royalty matters. In addition, the right person will be a self-starter with initiative, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. This position will work with a wide range of internal clients, including top management, and communication skills will be critical to maintaining client confidence.
