Job Description
Administers Special Needs Trusts individually and as part of a team for the benefit of beneficiaries with varying degrees of disability and/or incapacity. Works with field trust administrators, attorneys, case workers, and other professionals to ensure that Special Needs Trusts are administered in conformity with trust provisions, bank policies, Social Security regulations, Medicaid regulations, and other legal requirements. Works with families of disabled individuals and field trust officers to determine needs of beneficiaries and appropriate distributions from trusts. Administers trusts in a manner that prevents disqualification of beneficiaries from SSI/Medicaid and other means tested government benefit programs. Works with a variety of professionals, including attorneys, tax professionals, soci! al workers, case managers, and health care professionals to de! velop and offer solutions to complex problems facing disabled individuals and their families. Identifies risk issues on Special Needs Trust accounts, and works to resolve such issues. May provide work direction.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years financial, trust, or legal industry experience and/or equivalent education
Minimum Qualifications
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing to internal partners or external clients.
Experience utilizing analytical and proactive problem solving skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to create and sustain partnerships.
Proficient in using a PC.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team including taking direction from more senior administrators.
Ability to handle a large volume of daily transactions from a large volume of trust accounts in a fast-p! aced environment.
Willingness and ability to work directly with disabled individuals and/or their families to identify needs and develop solutions to complex issues and problems.
Willingness and ability to work with legal professionals and courts in multiple state jurisdictions.
Preferred Skills
BA/BS in business or related background (e.g. social work, liberal arts, mental health, legal).
In process of working toward CTFA, CFP, CPA or similar designation.
Experience working in a team environment.
Established working knowledge of trust, fiduciary law and federal regulations.
Relationship management experience.
Some knowledge and experience in working with Special Needs Trusts.
Experience as a trust officer or administrator, or as an attorney working with Special Needs Trusts.
Some knowledge of Medicaid/SSI and related means tested benefit programs.
Experience interact! ing or communicating with trust beneficiaries, and/or with disabled ind! ividuals and/or families of disabled individuals.
Working knowledge of Wells Fargo policies.
