2014 Summer Internship â€" Attorney/Legal Intern
VCE's Legal Department is a global, multi-disciplinary team of attorneys and legal professionals. The Legal Department works closely across all aspects of VCE to provide legal solutions that facilitates the growth of VCE's business by delivering innovative world-class technologies for our customers around the globe.
The Legal Internship Program typically occurs during or shortly after the candidate's law studies. Our program incorporates over 100 activities that allows VCE Legal Interns to examine how ! the practice of law is applied in a real world business enviro! nment in the areas of commercial transactions, corporate/business law, compliance, employment law, intellectual property, export, antitrust, advocacy and litigation, real estate law and technical training. The program also provides candidates with training and experience in connection with important areas such as public speaking, leadership, diversity and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of VCE's licensed attorneys, the Summer Legal Clerk will perform the following duties .
Perform general research assignments, which may include updates in federal, state and local law, labor and employment issues, intellectual property issues and international expansion.
Assist in the creation and updating of various VCE policies both company-wide and legal department specific.
Monitor VCE's portals, websites and eRoom to determine whether posted documents and information contain proper confidential markings and notify appropriate part! ies to correct inconsistencies.
Summarize various agreements and contractors, paying close attention to language and terms of agreements
Assist with drafting and negotiation of Commercial/Supplier Agreements and NDAs
Work closely with members of the legal team to gain exposure and begin to develop skills necessary to work within a technology company's in-house legal department.
Qualifications:
- Must have finished first year of law school pursuing a J.D. degree
- Candidates should display strong written and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn
