A national property & casualty insurance company is seeking a Regulatory Counsel attorney for its Corporate Legal Department. This legal professional will be responsible for leading and managing the corporate legislative/! regulatory compliance and government relations functions while providing coordination, guidance and direction for the performance of all regulatory compliance functions within the companyÂ's various business segments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A qualified candidate will be responsible for:
• Representation of companyÂ's corporate and business interests with legislative, regulatory and trade association constituencies
• Performing research and preparing summaries of federal and state legislation/regulation for issuance to internal operational and functional constituencies
• Preparation and submission of corporate reports and documents to various regulatory authority
• Resolution of state and federal legislative and regulatory issues
• In collaboration with business segment regulatory compliance professionals, development and communication of corporate legislative/regulatory compliance response plans
• In collaboration with busine! ss segment regulatory compliance professionals, development an! d communication of corporate policies, procedures and guidelines in support of corporate legislative/regulatory compliance response plans
• In collaboration with business segment regulatory compliance professionals, development and maintenance of a regulatory/legislative compliance monitoring system to confirm corporate compliance with regulatory/legislative requirement
• Management and coordination of market conduct examinations
REQUIREMENTS
• Law license in any US jurisdiction for a minimum of 4 years is required.
• Recent employment as a lawyer within a Department of Insurance for a minimum period of 2 years is strongly preferred.
• Solid legal research and analytical skills
• Superior communication and negotiation skills
• Working knowledge of commercial lines insurance products, programs and services
• Working knowledge of multiple insurance distribution channels
• Working knowledge of insurance claims, financi! al, loss control, marketing/advertising, producer and underwriting legislation/regulation
• Ability to professionally interact with external and internal constituencies
