Responsible for maintaining the integrity of Probate and County Court at Law case jackets at two (2) separate locations. Assist the general public with copy requests and/or records research from various computer systems including microfilm, microfiche, and image viewer. T! his work may be varied and may involve simple analysis, problem solving and clerical skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Files, retrieves and maintains case jackets in an orderly sequence in the file room and offsite storage.
2. Files instruments in case jackets when returned from court.
3. Utilizes PC programs to update and track the movement of case jackets, microfilm and loose documents to and from various authorized locations.
4. Assists public with phone inquiries regarding copies, letter requests, document research, files and approval of data and information.
5. Prepares copies, certified copies or exemplified copies upon request.
6. Researches database and verifies estate information from numerous mail requests and return documentation to substantiate findings.
7. Responsible for cash drawer, fee collection, and issuance of computer receipts.
8. Assists and instruct Attorneys, Title Companies, and the gene! ral public in the usage of the computer, imaging system, micro! film, microfiche equipment and compact disc.
9. Performs runner duties including retrieving case jackets and re-filing at offsite locations; delivering case jackets to both Probate and County Court at Law personnel, Probate and County Clerk’s offices; and delivering urgent correspondence from County Clerk’s office to other department head and elected officials.
10. Reconstructs case jackets from microfilm and microfiche, imaging system or compact disc.
11. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year office experience required.
- Knowledge of personal computers and word processing.
- Must be bondable.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to conviction! s and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, bend, stoop, push, pull and lift.
