Currently we are seeking a Direct Hire Senior National Underwriter for a reputable Title Company in the Plano, TX area. The candidate selected will provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. Essential job functions are listed below.
Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
Provides guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.
Issues underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.
Solid understanding of endorsement and policy coverage’s along with experience of negotiating these coverage’s with principals and their attorneys.
Underwrite title insurance policy coverage’s for commercial real estate transactions.
Assist national commercial escrow officer in closing transactions.
Negotiate policy coverage and endorsement coverage in connection with the issuance of owner’s and loan title insurance policies
Serve as a resource for sales people and their clients when they have title insurance and/or real estate questions.
Mentor junior underwriters.
Requirements
College degree preferred.
Must have at least 20 years of title industry experience. At least 10 years working as an underwriter.
Must have multi-state title examination/underwriting experience. Not just regional or state specific.
Experience in an underwriter’s national underwriting department preferred.
Experience in the request of high liability approval requests.
At least 5 years closing experience preferred
Must be comfortable with writing comprehensive, well worded underwriting requests to the underwriter.
Must have a comfort level in speaking with national as well as state or regional counsel.
Must have multiple state title agent/producer appointments.
Must have the ability to convince an underwriter of a recommendation to approve an underwriting situation if it doesn’t place the underwriter or agency under undue risk.
Must have the ability to communicate succinct, distinct instructions to other title and closing personnel.
Must have working knowledge of State by State title insurance guidelines and real estate practices to include endorsement availability, policy availability, transfer tax, mortgage tax and forms of conveyance.
Must be able to work on several transactions at one time in a fast-paced environment.
Must have outstanding customer service skills as well as a willingness and ability to work with a team of people in a professional and collegial manner.
