EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Successful completion of Licensed ! Vocational Nurse training from an accredited facility. Licensed by the State of Texas to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Complies with State of Texas requirements for continuing license as Licensed Vocational Nurse. Performs a variety of patient care activities including treatment, medication, and accommodative services for patients. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to, standing, bending, walking extended periods of time, lifting, transporting patients, and transporting supplies.
JOB DESCRIPTION : Responsible for narcotic, sharps, and instrument counts at the beginning and end of shift; receives, logs, and checks out methadone. Receives report from preceding shift, verifies patient count, and ensures data collection is complete. Documents vital signs and nursing assessments using the S.O.A.P. Format, clinic note or appropriate assessment protocol form. Verifies appointments and inmate attendance. Prepare! s patient to be evaluated by physician. Recalls those patients! not seen due to court appearance. Triages walk-in patients. Assists physician as necessary during examination and treatment. Answers calls for assistance from booking and housing areas. Responds to emergency calls as necessary. Communicates information within confidentiality guidelines as appropriate to security staff, patient families, attorneys, and other facilities. Notifies infirmary and classification of pending admission to the infirmary. Maintains control of return and/or rescheduled physician appointments. Complies with all civil service, departmental, and bureau rules, regulations, and standard operating proce-dures . Supervises and directs medical assistants. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. Reports to designated supervisor.
