JOB DESCRIPTION: ExxonMobil Chemical Company is looking for an intellectual property attorney with a minimum of two (2) years legal experience. The attorney will handle a variety of intellectual property matters, represent the Company in matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and work independently with supervision that is appropriate for the level of experience.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide legal analysis and counsel on intellectual property matters; prepare and prosecute patent applications in chemical technology areas; coordinate with outside counsel to ensure proper handling of patent cases; conduct Freedom-to-Operate assessments; conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues; ensure client compliance with Company policies and law; draft technology-related agreements; anticipate and guard against legal exposures to the Company; prepare and/o! r review necessary intellectual property documents associated ! with the above matters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: J.D. from an accredited law school; strong college and law school record (top 1/3 of class preferred); Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Texas bar membership preferred); registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred; reputation for high ethical standards and integrity; knowledge of federal, state and local laws; strong research and writing skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound business judgment.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Experience in preparation and prosecution of patent applications preferred; chemical engineering or chemistry degree preferred.
