Requirements
Experience and skills
- Bar membership in Texas. Active member and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- 2 or more years in practice in criminal law in Texas
- Tech savvy with strong research and analytical skills plus proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Winning personality with a strong work ethic. Commit to working some weekends and after hours, as needed
- Strong time management skills with the proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interact effectively with others â€" able to follow instructions and open to ideas, suggestions, and criticism
- Have the ability to think through big picture strategy in criminal cases to manage it from start to finish, and pivot when needed
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- We are looking for a compassionate, empathetic and fun person who will enjoy working with and for our clients
- Must be self-confident and a team player who is respectful, trustworthy with high integrity, and displays professionalism. We like working with good-natured people with positive energy
- Possess a good understanding of the varied psyche of individuals charged with criminal offenses
- Self directed, driven and takes ownership of their responsibilities and take initiative over their projects. At the same time possess the ability to lead and learn from a staff of non-attorneys
- Document everything that takes place on a case
- Establish a relationship and rapport with a client, and maintain that relationship and rapport throughout the case
- Provide supervision and direction to the legal assistant orcase manager on the team
- Review or draft legal documents on behalf of clients
- Pay attention to accounts receivables for assigned case load
- Comply with all legal standard and regulations
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
- Travel between Central Texas courts
- Demonstrate commitment to the defense of the accused
- Come work with a established firm with 25 years of experience
