Our Auto Physical Damage Claims Representatives will:
o Conduct field inspections of vehicles at body shops, tow yards, and other settings to determine what is covered by our insured’s policy and who is responsible for the damages.
o Create computerized estimates using the latest technology, company car, laptop, and digital camera in a fast-paced, paperless environment.
o Use strong customer service skills to negotiate with auto repair facilities, insureds and claimants to settle the claim.

If you have the following:
o Bachelors Degree or an Associates of Applied Science in an automotive program.
o Excellent customer service and communication skills.
o Eagerness to learn about cars from the inside out.
o Outgoing personality and a self-starting a! ttitude who loves being on the go and meeting new people every! day.
o Valid driver's license.

Position Requirements

In a typical day an APD claims representative:

• inspects damaged vehicles to determine what is covered by our insured’s policy and who is

responsible for the damage or loss;

• prepares repair or replacement estimates;
• negotiates the scope of work with auto repair facilities; and
• refers possible theft, fraud or arson losses to the company’s special investigators, and

identifies financial recovery opportunities.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

To succeed, an APD CR must:

• be eager to learn about cars from the inside out â€" everything from vehicle design and

construction to damage causation to repair methodology;

• be a quick study: able to read an insurance policy and identify how its coverage applies to a

particular loss;

• deli! ver outstanding customer service and clear, effective verbal and writte! n

communications;

• enjoy interacting with coworkers, policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair

facilities, contractors, police and fire departments, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys
and expert witnesses;

• be computer-savvy: able to quickly learn and use both Farmers-proprietary and industry

software; and

• be a self-starter who loves being on the go and meeting new people every day.

Education Requirements

Four-year college degree or an automotive related Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited technical college; or the experience described below.

Experience Requirements

None. For applicants who do not meet the education requirements, two years working as a manager, assistant manager or lead estimator in an auto body repair facility is require! d. Must achieve minimum passing scores on all claims training exams.

As a new APD CR, you’ll spend your first eight weeks in the field, working alongside
experienced CR’s and supervisors. You’ll complete our field-training curriculum; learn how
to use the estimating and claims management software that APD CR’s rely on, and witness
how Farmers people work to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Then, you’ll head to
the University of Farmers, Claims, in Agoura Hills, California, for two weeks of coursework
and intensive hands-on claims estimating practice, before returning to your office and
independently handling your first claim.
